AATISH KUMAR

I work between maps, cities, images and moving stories.

With a background in urban planning, I am interested in how places are planned, experienced and communicated. I trained at the School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi, wrote a thesis on planning for persons with disabilities, and have worked since on urban research, field documentation and communication for public institutions.

My work moves between urban planning, data visualisation, visual communication, photography and film — looking for the space where analytical thinking and visual storytelling meet. In practice that means the same week can hold a detailed project report, a chart that makes a census tabulation legible, a ward-level awareness campaign, and a night on a fixed mount waiting for a star trail to close.
